We joined GB about a year ago after moving and they have been so great to work with. Very professional and have gone above and beyond to keep kids motivated through Covid 19 offering both in-class and online classes. Coaches have a great attitude and there are always enough coaches to give the students the attention they need. They also give opportunities throughout the year for families and friends to try out through free self-defense workshop and bring a friend/family day.

After School Program

GB Whiterock kid’s Jiu-Jitsu after-school program is a great activity to keep kids active, even in their spare time and for busy parents. Their martial arts training will allow them to relax and release pent-up energy while gaining self-confidence. Experienced instructors teach Jiu-Jitsu classes. The after-school program will pick up students at school by our GB staff in shuttle buses and bring them to our academy. They continue their homework while waiting for their Jiu-Jitsu class to begin there.

Takedowns, sweeps, and grappling are an essential part of all Jiu-Jitsu disciplines. Discipline like Jiu-Jitsu helps significantly in improving your flexibility. And having a flexible body decreases your risk of injuries.

Jiu-Jitsu is a moderate-intensity physical activity that allows you to burn up to 500 calories in one class. All the movements in Jiu-Jitsu are intense and help you burn calories faster. When you practice Jiu-Jitsu, you tend to have low food cravings. And when your eating evolves handled, your body weight goes down automatically.

As most Jiu-Jitsu techniques require intense training, it improves overall fitness. The repetitious movements you practice are equivalent to HIIT, which aids cardiovascular health and controls high blood pressure.

What to expect on the first day of Gracie Barra Whiterock training

We suggest you come 15 minutes before the schedule, as the lesson will begin on time. When lining up to start training, you’ll notice the instructor has a precise plan for the course. The class routine is consistently comparable, so you understand what to anticipate during each aspect of practice; the methods change, though! You will discover over 100 technique combinations over four months, so be prepared for the journey! You’ll even find healthy support from your peers. You’ll be physically tired but mentally exhilarated by the end of the class. Don’t get too exhausted, though–we expect to see you around the following day! Remember, you can drill as much as you want.
